Current state

Military Research Institute, state enterprise (VVU), was established to ensure defence and security of the state on 29th August 2012 by the Memorandum of the Ministry of Defence. It has been establishes by the continual transfer of specialised activities, property and employees from the subsidiary company VTUO Brno of the state-owned corporation VOP CZ, Šenov u Nového Jičína. It was recorded into Zivnostensky rejstrik (the Trade Register) on 5th September 2012 and into Obchodni rejstrik (the Register of Companies) on 27th September 2012.

VVÚ bases its business on the results of 55-year-long performance of its predecessors which took part in military research and development. We are a legal person performing business activities with state property under own business name. We do not guarantee the liabilities of the state and vice versa.

VVÚ is a multidisciplinary research organisation with a hierarchic organisational structure. It is certified according to ISO 9001, ISO 14001 and AQAP 2110. It is authorised National Authority in the selected fields of activities by Ministry of Defence. Using supporting projects according to the Legal code acts no. 130/2002 and 137/2006 to the benefit of the founder and other providers, it coordinates fundamental research, conducts applied research, development and innovations of military technology and materiel, ensures the testing of military materiel and expert schooling of specialists in the fields of chemical, biological and radiological protection, electronic warfare and camouflage and materials engineering. It develops own international activities, according to treaties represents the Ministry of Defence and the Army of the Czech Republic in national institutions, organs of NATO and EDA.

VVÚ holds the Certificate of Facility Security Clearance allowing access up to the level of Secret and NATO SECRET. It performs international trade with military materiel.

The company is based in Brno. The inseparable part of the company is the department of Field Research in Vyškov, the deployed facility in the military training area Březina.
