Department of the Detection of CWAs and biological warfare agents
Capabilities
The research and development of the means of detection of CWAs, military significant chemical substances and selected toxic industrial chemicals, biological agents used in the field of field analysis.
The research and development of means of stand-off detection of CWAs, selected toxic industrial chemicals and biological agents.
The research and development in the field of integration of devices of detection of CWAs, military significant chemical substances and selected toxic industrial chemicals into research and monitoring systems.
Testing CWA detectors, military significant chemical substances, selected toxic industrial chemicals and determining their detection parameters – limits of detection, limits of determination, the speed of response, selectivity and reliability.
Preparing standard operating procedures for the field of sampling of contaminated substances, mainly by CWAs, military significant chemical substances and selected toxic industrial chemicals, their processing and the preparation for analysis, own analyses, processing obtained results and their subsequent evaluation.
Analysing unknown samples from various matrices centring on CWA contamination, military significant chemical substances and selected toxic industrial chemicals using laboratory instrumental analytical methods (GC with FID, FPDS, FPDP and PFPD detector, GC/MS, LC-MS/MS, HPLC with UV-detector, FTIR).
The syntheses of CWAs, military significant chemical substances and determining their basic analytical data – MS spectrum, IR spectrum, and/or gas chromatography retention index.
The training of specialists in the field of field analysis – personnel of field laboratories, sampling groups and transport of samples and reconnaissance squad.
In the field of expertise, it deals with consultancy in the detection and identification of CWAs, military significant chemical substances and selected toxic industrial substances for the units in Army of the Czech Republic deployed in foreign military missions.
To solve the issues in the field of defensive standardisation, we focus on the fulfilling of the demands of Defence Standardisation, Codification and Government Quality Assurance Authority Assets Codification Department in Prague, which are given by the Plan of defensive standardisation of Ministry of Defence and is based on Legal Code act no. 309/2009, which states that defensive standardisation is the accession of the Czech Republic to standardisation treaties of NATO, creating Czech defensive standards and ways how to conduct them.
